Public Art > Freedom Sculpture

By Cecil Balmond. One of the largest pieces we’re created to date. This piece started with over 100K pounds of 1.5” thick stainless steel which we had waterjet to form the script on the cylinder as well as the two 9’ rings which support the script. The 13’ saddle in turn supports the ring and was hand formed by our team. We worked very closely with Balmond Studios throughout the entire fabrication process on the project. The Farhang Foundation commissioned this sculpture in Los Angeles to honor the ideals of Cyrus the Great– a Persian ruler who championed principles of religious diversity and personal freedom 2,500 years ago.
